March was a good month for the creation of automotive jobs

The automotive and hospitality sectors continued to lead the recruitment drive last month according to CV Library. The jobs website reported a 14% increased in job vacancies in March 2017, maintaining the strong start to the year. Big cities such as Liverpool and Birmingham led the way, seeing the highest concentration of roles being created.

In the same period the number of applicants only increased by 4.6%. This reveals that whilst businesses are showcasing their confidence in the UK and creating roles there are a lack of job seekers in many areas. As a result businesses need to do more to attract people and fill vacancies.

It is good news that key sectors such as automotive and hospitality are confident enough to continue recruiting for the future. Spring is a great time of year for recruiting as many people are looking to take the next step with their career after the busy winter period.

Although they are lagging behind the number of vacancies being created it is also great to see that candidates have been active throughout March. It is hoped the number will gradually rise as spring continues and people plan ahead for the rest of the year.

At John Gibson Associates we have continued working hard throughout March to help our clients create and fill automotive jobs. Although there are some causes for concern the high confidence is great news for the whole sector. The roles being created are diverse and give people with a wide array of interests the chance to start their career or take the next step in it.
