Volvo XC40 will be the first all-electric Volvo

Volvo has highlighted it will launch its first all-electric car in 2019, but mentioned that the model will be hard to come by. It has said that officials are going to produce an initial electric model which will be variant of XC40 crossover, and is said to arrive very soon after the Polestar 2.

Details on the Polestar 2 are sketchy, but it is expected to appear in 2019 as a less-expensive alternative to the Polestar 1, which Volvo had incorporated, a £117,740 plug-in hybrid coupe, that will launch as an independent brand. As well as this, it is said that the electric Volvo XC40 could be a rival to Tesla’s upcoming Model Y, the crossover companion to the Model 3.

Last year, it was announced that the electric Volvo would have a range of 250 miles and would cost between £26,584-£30,382. It has also been said that the larger XC90 crossover would also get an all-electric variant in 2021, in aims to offer hybrid, plug-in hybrid or an all-electric version of each vehicle made beginning in 2019.

Lamborghini Miura SVR restored to former glory

Italian firm’s restoration teams have restored the only ever made Miura SVR to its original specification.

Lamborghini have revealed it’s fully restored Miura SVR and brought it back to life by the Italian firm’s Polo Storico department which took 19 months to complete. The Miura SVR was said to be one of the most extreme versions of the iconic supercar ever produced with only one ever made, having spent most of it’s like in Japan. The SVR was based on the already modified Miura Jota.

Chassis number 3781, with body number 383 and engine number 2511. Originally the vehicle had been spray painted in Verde Miura with black upholstery, and changed ownership no less than 8 times.

Customer demand was said to be very much the reason why the Miura Jota and SVR models had been created. The original Jota development car was diminished in an accident but Lamborghini would later build only 5 examples for customers who have asked due to the coverage the accident generated.

One has said that the challenge of restoring the vehicle was more daunting than first expected, as the vehicle had arrived in sant’Agata in pieces, and that although the parts were all there, modifications such as four-point safety belts, sporty seats and a roll bar had been installed.

Fiat Chrysler will spend 10 billion on greener cars

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles are hoping to spend 9 billion euros, or 20 percent, of its total budget for capital expenditures through 2022 on developing electrified vehicles to comply with new emission standards in order to catch up with the rest of the market for gas-electric hybrids and full electric vehicles.

Its product mix and strategy will vary from market to market. It has been said that on this coming Friday, a new 5 year business plan will bring electric-vehicles to showrooms in 2020, including brands like Jeep, Maserati and Fiat 500.

As you may know, reducing dependence on oil is one of the greeted challenges society is and has been facing over the past couple of years. Some strategies have been put in place to prompt a use in smaller engines, mild Hybridge, plug-in hybrids and full-electric vehicles.

At relevant associations, it was said that they believe there is no single solution and no magic formula to solve the oil/diesel problem. But they do believe there is a quantum leap, the entire system — political, economic and industrial, that needs to work alongside the right balance of finding the adequate balance between consumption levels, cost and efficiency.

Currently, Jeep are on target for selling roughly 1.9 million cars a year, Alfa-Romeo are building sales to £440,000 per annum, and Maserati are almost doubling their sales of 100,000 last annum!
